Our Last Couple of Days in Tanzania

 Today we spend a quiet morning at MTAD. Millie actually gets one of the students to make us french toast for breakfast and she does it really well. Apparently she learnt how to make this on a work placement, whereas most of the others have never heard of it.

It’s Monday morning so the students are back to classes. Today the lesson is “Culinary Skills”. One of the teachers is also very keen to be in the photos, even sitting with the students.

We have a light lunch here at MTAD and finish up a bottle of wine from the other day.

Mid afternoon we go down to the ACTT offices. They have had a reorganisation since we were here last year. The aim being to make some more room for computer training classes. There is a class in progress this afternoon and Bruno asks us to go and have a short chat with the students which we do.

We spend some time with Robert going through the finances for our trip and the equipment we have bought. Bruno has then organised drinks and a cake for us to share with the staff.

Around 5.30 we leave and go to Robert’s house for a drink with Mama Diana (Robert’s wife) and Peter. We then go out for dinner with Robert and Mama Diana. As always it’s a lovely evening.

So today is Tuesday and our last day in Tanzania on this visit. Really it’s a pretty quiet day. We have a relaxed breakfast and then do some packing before walking down to Keys Hotel for lunch.

Today there is no rain and it is very hot so instead of walking back to MTAD after lunch we get a bajaji. The rest of the afternoon is then just spent relaxing, showering and getting ready to go to the airport. Robert will pick us up at 6pm and take us to Kilimanjaro Airport for our KLM flight to Amsterdam via Dar es Salaam and tomorrow we will fly on to Bristol in the UK.

It’s been a great trip.

We have travelled approximately 1670 miles (2670 Km) in 14 days on this trip and stayed in 8 different towns.

This year we have continued to support 6 Government Primary Schools and added 3 more. We have given out

16 x Desktops Computer sets

1 x CPU unit

3 x Printers

2 x Laptops

2 x Projectors

11 x 6 port Surge Protection Lead

We have also paid for monitoring and maintenance of all the equipment at the schools.

It is difficult to express in words the gratitude of the teachers and pupils who never expected to have this level of computer equipment at their schools. They are incredibly thankful.
